sorry all but it was not my dif i just gest it was as i lost drive to the frunt wheels with a loud bang!!! an loads off clunking an i cod spin my wheels by hand in a way that i shod not be abel to. but it was my half shaft his the pics off the weak end work ow i wish i worked it out befor stripping ...

the nut your doing up is a locating nut there is a small groove in the spline where the nut/bolt goes to keep it together its not a tight/loose bolt, the play/knocking you are having is most probably the steering box there is a nut and a flat head screw loosen the nut do the screw up an then tighten...
