Re: Help Needed! Suzuki Samurai Needed for TV Appearance

Hi Matt, You have not had much response because most owners improve their SJ's to their own requirements and many are bought to be used off-road. I have a 1992 Samurai which is nearly standard, except for Corbeau seats, but I will be changing them for more comfy seats in the future. I have been stea...

Re: Starting/ warming up

Webber carb bought from Southern Carburettors, new including adaptor fitting, was £303.60 with VAT and shipping. I bought it on the recommendation of a local tuning guy who called Steve and arranged a 10% discount for me. Southern Carburettors 01293- 533843. Full kit delivered next day, paid by debi...

All sorted now guys, running better than new after fitting a webber conversion and having a service and tune up. Now looking forward to a nice warm dry summer for open top motoring.

Re: Starting/ warming up

My Samurai became more and more temperamental, so took it to the local garage for a service hoping they would see the problem and I would be ok. No such luck, service was needed but carb faults persist. It starts but won't run and needs several starts to get it to run at tickover, if you accelerate ...

Re: Starting/ warming up

Thanks guys for your interest, is it one of those problems that you ignore and it goes away? The whole injection/auto choke system looks very complex and there is nothing in the workshop manual to help. Its so complicated I don't fancy tackling it myself, but would like to have the sammy running eff...

Re: Starting/ warming up

You may be right about being woken up, but my Sammy always starts even if left for long periods without use because I have another car (for best) and a motorcycle for heavy holiday traffic journeys. (I live in Torquay) I have taken the car to the local garage twice for this problem, they say they ma...

Re: Starting/ warming up

My Samurai is very reliable and used everyday, BUT, when starting it fires but then will cut out unless I rev the engine to catch it running, after that no problems with engine running. I have a strange problem when the engine starts to warm up, it is sometimes ok and ticks over normally but other t...

Re: january 2nd 2012

Hi, I like the idea of the Vauxhall 1.5 turbo diesel engine you have fitted, as you must get good MPG and a better performance. What model did it come from? I think these engines could be obtained easily and cheaply for a more viable alternative to my 413 Samurai engine that does 38 mpg on a run, bu...

Re: new wheels and tyres

Hi, I posted a reply on another wheel request, I have a set of four Vitara deep dish alloys in good condition with tyres (two worn need replacing) size 265/50R15. These are probably the widest you can get without going monster truck spec. See attachment. I have fitted mud tyres to my standard wheels...
