Re: shocker lengh
Best way 'flex' it corner to corner with no shocks. Measure pin to pin both sides, the high side will give you your max extended length, the low side will give you your compressed length. Find some shocks to suit. Ideally you would want the shock to be a very slight amount longer than your max with ...
Re: SU Help
Just thought I'd update this RE the 'underfueling/lean top end issue' incase anyone is interested or it helps someone else. As already mentioned, I did indeed just have a million different issues that were making it very hard to find the causes of problems. After getting it to run much better with t...

Re: Fuel and temp guage
Temp gauge is earthed thru the sensor, I imagine fuel sensor is earthed in the boot somewhere (mine has no rear wiring loom at all since I've had it). Temp sensor wire is probably broken or terminal has broken off the sensor is common too. I replaced my sensor and rewired it too my amazement the das...

Re: original early 1980s Suzuki stereo
A lot of those early 80s ones were actually fairly standard, the 2 knobs were always in the same place and the center part was the same size cutout weather it had the 'memory' buttons or a tape slot or not.. where you would find one that still works I don't know
Re: SU Help
I have idea where its from as far as I know its a standard 413 head and manifold on a swift 16v block, it now works so I'm happy lol. Might have to order a bbz needle or have a go at polishing the bfm to be richer at the top

Re: Alternative carbs to the SU HIF44
For what its worth, my theory on why the HIF works best, the jet is directly in the middle of the float bowl, tipping the carb on an angle doesn't really have a huge effect on the level of fuel in the centre where the jet is
Re: SU Help
So after todays tinkering, I've got the mixture probably not far off being full rich, but still getting a high rpm backfire out the carb. Upto about 4000rpm it runs pretty good. Still wondering it its to do with the head struggling to breathe the extra 300cc of the 1.6 block. Wouldve thought that wo...
Re: SU Help
Some progress today..kindof. Investigated the over run valve, spring seemed pretty strong but short of any other ideas I disabled it anyway. Decided I didnt have the equipment to solder it very well so I took it out, drilled out the center of the valve part and riveted it back over the hole. A bit p...
