Re: SU Conversion

One thing I've noticed is that the engine picks up revs when you brake and release . I guess it's because of the drop in pressure from the manifold.

Re: SU Conversion

I've got some microbore copper tubing which will plumb into the surplus water pipes, when I've figured out howto coil it tight enough. I think you have to fill it with water or oil before bending.
I just bought a filter to fit the cake tins. 18cms I think.

SU Conversion

Many thanks for all the earlier contributions on converting to an SU. Job nearly finished. It probably needs a different needle but I haven't road tested yet. Pancake type air filter is made from non stick cake tins!

Suzuki Maruti

It's interesting that the SJ is still being manufactured in India. I guess they would not pass the current EU regulations but somebody may have made a personal import with an SVA test?

Re: Samurai Sport 1298cc

I will probably leave it original as the paint's not too bad with expected scars of 17 years hard use. I was surprised at how thin the paint is though. First job is to get it to idle properly and then pluck up the courage to go for an MOT. I have the 2 piece hard top on for the winter which is nearl...

Re: Samurai Sport 1298cc

Many thanks for your advice.
I could have done with having the vehicle roadworthy to get around in the snow.

Re: Samurai Sport 1298cc

Yes , original seats and a pair for the back. I need to get the carburation sorted to take it for an MOT. I have replaced the discs and pads because these were worn to the metal and seized up . The pistons eventually pushed back with the help of a massive G cramp and 4' long tommy bar! I have replac...

Samurai Sport SU carb wanted

Hi all. I always wanted a Samurai when they were new but only just got around to buying one last summer. It ran fine all summer and into the autumn but started causing problems a few weeks ago. The engine runs OK when cold but will not idle at all when warm. It is on it's second ( at least) Aisin ca...
