The Iconic Suzuki SJ, merchandise and toys

Post by Tramp » Wed Sep 23, 2015 10:07 pm

Well then, we all love our SJ's and we all know how iconic they are. Because of this over the years there have been numerous items of merchandise dedicated to the humble Suzuki SJ. I thought I'd make a thread and try and include some information about them,

I'll start with the matchbox size Maisto Suzuki SJ Often found on eBay and no longer produced.

Then the fujimi jimny a 1/24th scale model
That you assemble and paint yourself, I bought a few of these from Japan a number of years ago, they occasionally come up on eBay.

Then there is the Tamiya 19011 a 1:32 'jimny mini 4wd'
I had one of these, it is 4 wheel drive powered by x2 AA batteries. Good fun, although it has no steering, they look like they are no longer available, although there is a version for the new jimny,

Then there is the Neo 1:43 These are currently available if expensive. And are described as 'for collectors and are not toys'

Then the ESP 1:43 it looks to be the police variant but the casting looks similar to the Neo, again these are currently available but all seem to be located in Spain,

Next there is the Sindy 'Funtime 4x4' my friend took great pleasure sending me this picture, they are from the early 90's and no longer produced, were they ever sold in the uk? I don't know, they were defiantly available stateside!

And now we have the tamiya 58531 'Suzuki jimny (SJ30)' this is currently available and based on a 2wd 'wheelie' chassis, it is 1:10, the body is lexan and will require painting in your own choice of colours, I've not got one of these but would quite like one!

This is the speedway pal peo14 'jimny' body, although not strictly a toy in its on right it is a universal 1:10 lexan body that you can fit on your own RC car,
(Pic to be added later)

And that's my list for now, anyone with further info or items they want to add, post below and I'll edit this thread to suit,

Thanks
Luke

Still got the Fujimi Jimny that I bought off Luke years ago, but bought another one as I misplaced the "chassis" over the years. Currently sat ontop the soundbar, painted Matt Black!

I've also got the Maisto SJ in white, with the suspension so soft that it's parked on a pebble "cross axling"!

I have a few...the SJ and Vit were modified to (sorta) look like mine. The yellow one has square headlights for some reason!

And also to add hotwheels number 16923 - off road mud monster

I saw this on a Suzuki group on Facebook, quite clearly a Suzuki SJ, I checked eBay and stole the photos, it's nice to document these things!
