New headlights Suzuki Samuari 1993

Post by Echobeach » Sun Dec 07, 2014 9:33 pm

Hi,

I wonder if anyone could advise me please?

I need to change out my original headlights as they are very dim now. I am struggling to find replacements but have found a sealed beam halogen conversion kit

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-Wareh ... 3f236e1052

Has anyone got any experience with this sort of upgrade? Will the fuses/wiring be ok? Apologies, am a complete novice at this stuff. Any advice gratefully received.

Many thanks
Maz

Why are they dim? Do you have a bad earth, faulty bulbs etc? I'd check that first before ordering any new stuff.

Oh and welcome to SCUK!

The main problem seems to be that the silver has corroded from the back of the lights so they aren't shining as bright. Bulbs and earth seem fine. It passed its MOT with them like it so they aren't that bad. I'm assuming there aren't any original replacements out there - I am finding it hard to source parts!

I'm sure the ones I fitted to mine were just "standard" 7" Halogen ones. Loads of cars have them.

These might be them. £28 a pair can't be bad.

I had to buy bowls to suit also

Mine are mk2 golf.....but it's only because I had them lying around. mk1 golf headlights are easier to fit.

These lights I assume come with the standard 55/60w halogen bulbs.
These use a little more current/power than the original 40/45w (normally fitted).
This is not a problem as I've been running them for 10 years and don't know of anybody having any issues with them either. You don't even have to up the fuse sizes

Having said that, later models (IE: yours) may well have 55/60w as standard, I dunno
