I'm considering shopping around for a 5-speed 'box for my 410, as it's gonna be a daily run around I could do with the extra gear for fuel economy.
I'm hoping you guys can offer advice, pros, cons etc. such as if it's too much work to be worth it.
Also, if anyone happens to have a low mileage 5-speed hiding in a shed, I may be willing to buy if I can persuade my mother...I'm such a leech.

5-speed gearbox
There's three ways of doing things:
The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

Re: 5-speed gearbox
I would say no point, have you looked in the spec's?
4speed box
Top = 1.0
3rd = 1.42
2nd = 1.95
1st = 3.14
5speed box
Top = 0.79
4th = 1.0
3rd = 1.42
2nd = 1.95
1st = 3.16
The top gear is rarely used unless you are on an open road with a swift following breeze, Its more like an over drive, When I used my 413 every day the only time i used 5th was on the motorway, It pulled better in 4th, and then when I hit a hill I had to knock it down a gear,
It seems like a lot of effort with not much advantage, and in fairness the 4 speed box has a better first gear for setting off and the rough stuff

Re: 5-speed gearbox
Right, okay then. Cheers Tramp. That solves that.

Re: 5-speed gearbox
Like tramp said, my sammy will only have 5th on flat roads... and it doesn't really accelerate... it just stays there
