I should have mentioned that my carburetor is for an 84' model with added ECU functions on it. Many of these added functions are disconnected & the matching inlets for them on the carb. capped off.

These include the A.B.C.V. ( Air Bleed Control Valve ) & the M.C.V ( Mixture Control Valve. ) PCV valve (Positive Crankcase Vent ) & VTV ( Vaccum Transmitting Valve ) - All of which are only partially functional & the previous owner disconnected in what looks like an attempt to disgnose the no start complex.

I have checked with a multi meter the
WOTS ( Wide Open Throttle Switch ),BVSV ( Bi-metal Vacuum Switching Valve ) and BTS ( Bi-metal thermal valve) all of which have power & appear to be operational.

I've disconnected the ECU as recommened by the shop manual in order of diagnosis yet no change in behaviour is noticed.

I've never seen an SJ410 with an ECU or anything other than a basic side draught carb? None of the UK models had an electronic dizzy, all of them had points and a condensor.

Have you got some pics of the engine bay and carb.

Sorry about the confusion, I only just noticed that you wasn't in the UK and I've never seen a 410 with a different fuelling and ignition set up.

I would assume that dropping all the ECU add ons wouldn't affect performanc. - It's mostly just for emmisions I believe.

You can't just drop the add-ons because the ECU controls the fuelling by adjusting the mixture control valve based on feedback from the lambda sensor.
If you aren't getting fuel then I would start by testing the fuel cut solenoid - assuming that you've already tested the fuel pump.

Does it have an alarm you don't know about?
If it ticks over...leave it

A new carb without ECU controls is starting to look more appealing.

Got her started!

It was the timing - Cam & crankshaft were pretty off.

Repositioned the distributor, adjusted the valves & now she purrs.
