Is there a way to know the engine's year of manufacture? I tried to search but it's confusing .

If the engine matches the logbook then it should be the same age as the car..if you are talking of an engine you have bought then I think it might be impossible to get the exact year it was made. Perhaps some parts have dates stamped on them but I kinda doubt it.
If it ticks over...leave it

They have scrap the original engine of the SJ I'm restoring. I'm trying to find an engine of the same year.

As long as it has a good F10a I would be happy. Not sure it's really worthwhile trying to find an engine from the same year as you wouldn't be able to tell looking at it anyway.

As far as I'm aware that only applies in the US where they have different laws.

If all F10 are the same it's not a problem.
You think they are all the same?

There's pretty much 2 major variations, but it's just a subtle difference on the head, however unless you know what you are looking at you cant really tell the difference. there might be other tiny differences over the years but you would have to be very clued up on 410s to know.
