R reg Vitara JLX needs cd player

Post by Quins » Sat Nov 07, 2015 10:31 pm

Hi guys, newbie Quins here. I've inherited my mother in laws JLX, (we call it Ribena, because of the colour!) and I'm trying to find a cd radio to go in it. I know nothing about these things, I've tried a coupe of google searches for one at a breakers and only returned one but the reviews for the yard were terrible. Any ideas where I could pick one up. The wiring is there, in the space, where the original one should be, just a void at the moment.

Grateful.

Quins

Ps, got to say what fun it is to drive!

What Twiss said...for £50 you can get a very good Sony or Panasonic one
If it ticks over...leave it

Although the one Twiss posted doesn't actually play CDs

Thanks guys, I took a look at the units, they do look good value. We've not ventured into MP3 territory, all old cars. Might be time to move on.

The Halfords web site says I will need a converter £12 ish same thing in Amazon is about £2.50, is there a catch? ( same part number and description).

Do you have a link for the converter? Is it for the loom or an adapter to fit the hole in the dash?

Autoleads PC2-41-4 Car Audio Harness Adaptor Lead - Suzuki

On Halfords and Amazon.

the way my kids rip MP3 music is cr@p, poor quality. I'd rather listen to the wireless.

CDs don't play well when the going gets rough, SD cards are the way to go and you can fit a lot of music on one.
