Grand vitara 2005 diesel fuel gauge stuck on full

Grand vitara 2005 diesel fuel gauge stuck on full After power washing engine and under arches has anyone got any ideas please?i have checked the plug behind back light when I unplug that the gauge drops to empty.any help would be much appreciated.

Have you damaged an earth somewhere?
Sid James gone but never forgotten
Jimny 1.6 not as good as an SJ but still good
