Evening all.

Post by dazvit » Thu Feb 18, 2016 8:51 pm

Hi, I'm new to Vitara's and anything that's not made by ze Germans really
I managed to pick up a year 2000 Vitara Jx today in black, It's not I bad nick, but the brakes are fooked  ( And the previous owner reckons he's just fitted new pads :screwy: ) maybe so but it might of helped If he changed the discs while he was about it!!
Anyways, Looks like it might be a little project so will take photo's as and when.
Any info on the best place where to mail order parts in the u.k.would be appreciated 8-)

Cheers mate  , I'm after a driver side manual window winder mech, the cable on mine has snapped.
Managed to get front discs and pads locally (Guernsey) which was handy but cant find this mech anywhere online,
they only seem to advertise electric.
Also which is the best Hayne's manual for the JX 2000 model?

Welcome along mate!

Is That a tornado red mk2 lurking in the pic?? I spend 90% of my time cracking sumps in Germanic whips myself!

P.s I'm breaking a Vitara for parts if there's anything you need!

Cheers mate, yeah it's just a doner for my 2 door gti, I have a few other vw's aswell but fancied Somthing different 8-)
A driver side manual window mech is what I'm after at the mo, If you know of any spare, or even a place to order a new one would be better :doublethumbs:
The thing is, on the log book it says registered in 2000 but after doing some researching on Vitaras, mine looks like a up to 1998 model and that's why I'm having a bit of bother sourcing parts. Correct me if I'm wrong though please, I'm really not sure :er:
Going by the chassis number it was built in Spain.

If the chassis number starts with a V then its spanish, J is jap.
As for the brakes, I would give the rears a look as well. The spanish models of samurai had a crappy rear brake set up and I wouldn't be surprised if the Vit one was just as bad

Make sure the spring loaded ratchet bit gets a really good grip on the rotating adjuster.
If it doesn't the brakes can unadjust all by themselves... its a pain in the arse.

And while you are there make sure there is no play in the wheel bearings
