Switched live for a 12v cigarette socket?

Post by Phillips321 » Wed Apr 20, 2016 10:22 pm

Hi guys,

Just got my SJ410 1986 and have had a good look over it.

There is no radio and no 12v cigarette socket. I'm looking to wire in a 12v socket but want it only to come on when i turn the engine on, ACC?

Basically i'll be using it for running a high amp spotlight and occasionally a usb charger.

What are the best wires to tap into for this?

Many thanks

Look for a wire that is black with a white tracer under the centre of the dash, usually one floating around somewhere for the cigarette lighter and stereo.

I found that one but it's live all the time? Should it be? It was wired into an iso plug so definitely for a radio.

Are you sure that wasn't a wire that was white with a black tracer? That one should be live on the first click of the ignition aka acc, however it shouldn't be permanently live.

Magic, finished it now. USB goes to ACC and 12v direct to battery (with a 25A fuse)
