Playing a stupid game.... fuel light?

Post by Phillips321 » Thu May 12, 2016 8:27 am

Hi guys,

New to my SJ410 and the fuel gauge seems to work pretty well. However i've always topped it up before the fuel light comes on.

Questions:
Is there a fuel light?
If i run it till it runs out is it as simple as putting fuel back in and then starting again? I'm currently carrying a 20 litre jerry for when this happens.

Thanks guys

No fuel light!

Just 2 weekends ago I replaced the whole fuel system front to back, or should that be back to front :D
The sender on our SJ only has one connector wire which goes straight to the gauge, so no low fuel warning. I believe the later SJ413 has this luxury item as standard!

Even my 2002 Jimny doesn't have a low fuel light!

Simple = Better.

Off the the petrol station i go then! Lets just say i did run out, is it easy to just refuel and get going again or are there any potential problems?

Thanks

As I had to drain the old tank, I recovered nearly 10 litres of fuel in the tank when the gauge said dead on empty. So probably 5-8 usable before spluttering :D

Chances are if you run out you can get it going again with a bit of turning over. Best bet would be to stop if it starts spluttering and top up.

I think even with Samurais/413 Spanish built have a different sender (fuel light) and Jap build still have the single wire sender (no fuel light)

To be fair the light isn't great anyway. Just flickers on and off all the time under about ¼ tank as the fuel sloshes about.
