Just drain the oils and look for shiny oil and shiny bits. Can always drain them through a mess sieve to see if there are any bits.

If there are no bits physically check for pinion bearing play and spin the diff bu hand to listen for rough internal bearings, if all seems ok just fill them back up and see how it runs.
