Oxygen Sensors.

Engine check lamp came on briefly a couple of times, checked it out with code reader, 02 error code comes up, bank1 - sen1.
so assume bank1-sen1 is the sensor in the manifold, and sensor 2 is the one further down the exhaust. Kinda tempted to clear the error code, and just unplug the sensors. has anyone else had this one come up??.
Any of you guys got any thoughts on this one.??

Now seriously confused, Checked online Suzi codes, and they point to oxy sensor, but can this refer to the fuel air mix going into the engine.. ? (or even high tension ht - control crt - malfunction malf, very cryptic. }..
There again a 40 quid diagnostic reader aint going to give all the answers.

Even cheap readers would normally give a full code but I am assuming it's "O2 sensor heater control malfunction" sensor 1. This would normally be shown as P0135. The most common reason for this is when the heater coil within the sensor has failed (open circuit). It's quite easy to unplug the sensor and check the resistance of the heater coil so I've copied the workshop manual pages if you wish to have a go. I wouldn't worry about clearing the code as if there is a fault it should come back straight away. Below is for the 2.0L engine, hope yours is not the V6 and if it is sensor 2 I'll re-do below.

Another big sigh of relief, MOT over, in at 9:00 am, 10:00 am, phone call to go and pick truck up passed ok.

Resistance checked out, and open circuit. not going to worry about that one. will change the sensor at some point. quick cure done, a bit of insulating tape over warning light?.. easy fix (temporary ish)

Next job coming up. ? a 12v feed into boot, 12v socket already there but want to tap into the feed rather than use a ciggi lighter plug, guess will have to figure out how to get the trim off. Well that's me end of year project, to get my radio gear fitted away from dash and the front of the truck.
