Hi,
I've just finished doing up a 83 sj410 and as usual there was the odd problem. This one was that the engine would run and get me to where I wanted to go except where I got to one particular hill and it died there at least three times. I'd put in a electric pump, tuned it as per the service manual and adjusted fuel float etc.
The last time it stopped on the flat so I had a look at the float chamber and the fuel was low, I had thought it was a fuel problem.
There's a lot of suggestions out there on possible causes,
what the service manual and the internet doesn't tell you though is that there is another filter that sits above the inlet to the float chamber. Its part of the bronze fitting the float valve needle operates on.
Once I had that apart and cleaned, no problems.
As I said, its not in the suzuki service manual that I can find, so I hope this helps someone.
cheers

Re: engine cutting out
Armed with your info I though I'd have a shifty. Does kind of show it in the manual but no mention of it.
Cheers for the info
