how did you work out the mileage? did you use the odometer? If so did you account for the fact it will be completely out on larger tyres and calculate the difference correctly?

Sorry I just can't believe that any G series on a carb will get 35mpg, especially when the injected versions only just average 30-35.

Thanks for all the replies guys.

Seems like the SJ isn't too unhealthy in its current spec. Will be interesting to seem what difference the fwh set to free make on the next tank.

I found that the FWHs make a noticeable difference in fuel consumption...
The Maruti Gypsy (lwb) was a little unpopular in India because of the fuel consumption, but it was because nobody knew to unlock the hubs and save fuel!

I average around 200miles to a tank, even more when being used offroad!
