Those spring loaded brake shoe retaining pins....

Post by Eltoon » Sun Mar 12, 2017 9:45 am

The pins that go through the back of the drum and through the middle of the shoe then have the spring over them and retained by a little disc with a slot so you have to somehow hold the shoe in place, hold the pin in place, compress the spring and fit the little disc then twist the pin or the disc 90 degrees to hold it. How the feckity bastard feck do you get those fecking bastard feckers back on? :bawling: :argh:

It's perseverance wot done it. Blue-tacked the disc to the end of me pliers. I've since discovered there is a tool specially made for those buggers. Maybe I'll get one before I do the other side.......once my wounds have healed...

Hold cap with pliers, with free hand hold pin on rear of plate. Push cap in with pliers, rotate pin with other hand

I just use needle nose pliers. Hold the back of the pin push the cap on until you can grip the pin, then use your hand to hold disc while you spin the pin with the pliers.

Easy once you learn the technique
