Two quick things:
Firstly, some of you may already know I need new tyres as the old dunlops are perished including the spare, and I'n after some new ones. I was looking on the site of a local wholesaler, and noticed that the samurai standard size 205/70 R15s are a fair bit cheaper than 195/80 R15s. Will the 205s go on my truck, or are they too wide?
Second, my driving instructor (and stepdad) thinks I'm ready to go for my driving practical, so I should hopefully have that done before Jesus's birthday.

The 205s were standard on samurais and 195s standard on 410s and 413s...
I wouldn't think they would be that much different in size?
Wait for a 410 person though...

it says your 195/80r15's are 69.3cm diameter, wheras the 205/70r15 are 66.8cm diameter, so the later the replacement tyre is actually smaller, So I would have no qualms about it fitting. as for if its too wide, I doubt it! the wheel rims are the same size through out the sj's lifespan (5.5" wide) and when they changed to the sammy (and the wider axles) they didn't alter where the leafsprings attched to the axle, they actually moved the mounts outboard of the chassis, so essentally what fits on a sammy should fit on 410,
And with them being slightly smaller you gear down the transmission slightly, meaning you will be able to accelerate faster. The calcualtor alsso says you will have 3.6% difference in your speedo reading....... to be honest I'd be happy if my speedo was 10% accurate which I doubt it is!

I was a bit concerned as to if they'd catch on the chassis or something, but I guess if the diameter's smaller that counteracts the width increase.
Yeah, I'm going to get the test booked, do a half-dozen or so more lessons between now and then, and hopefully pass, and then I'll be pestering you lot even more.

Right, couple of things:
Had a go at sorting out my air vent thing, because it wouldn't blow at the screen. Initially the cable that pulls the lever that pulls up the damper wasn't looped over the thing on the lever, so I put that on and now it pulls it up a bit using the control on the dash alone, which is a start, but it only closes it about halfway. If I shut it myself the mechanism will hold it there, so I'm wondering is it the drag the cable outer puts on the cable that stops the controls from doing it alone, or has a spring gone or something?
It's easy enough to stick my finger through the hole in the front of the box and lift the flap up as it is, so if I have to tear the dash apart I'll leave that 'til the weather warms up
Next, does anyone know how or where I need to look to get a new rear window screen heater fitted, as the old one is so old it's disintegrated and come away from the window etc. The electrics work as I've had a bulb on the input wires, so I figured it's worth trying to get a new one.
Almost forgot: Due to the weather, it looks like it could be next January before I've got my license.

On the tyre subject for a slightly beefier look you can go to 215s with no mods. I'll have to check wot size exactly next time i'm at mad Dads tho.
