Radiator leak!

Post by TyZuk » Thu Nov 02, 2017 3:35 pm

Hi all,

My jimny has been leaking engine coolant for the past 6 months or so, I just haven't really been thinking much of it, initially thought it was the bottle that was leaking as apposed to the radiator. However as of today I have now realised it was probably the radiator all this time! Just got home from work, and it was all over the driveway. Looked underneath and it's definitely the radiator hahah.
Is that a common fault and is it an easy/cheap fix or have I been a doughnut to overlook it all this time? :er: if anyone could help that'd be great!

Radiator is easy, remove the fan, the plastic shroud around the radiator, two bolts at the top, two at the bottom, remove the pipes off the radiator - not the engine.

Fit new rad, reattach everything, add water + coolant, run engine with heaters on full blast and rad cap off and keep topping up.

I would recommend at the same time, flush the heater matrix, two pipes that go into the bulkhead, attach a hose to one end and flush all the crap out.

New rads are cheap as chips :)

Hours job, 10mm spanner, 13mm spanner, plumbers grips, first aid kit.

This is mine, - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BRAND-NEW-RA ... xycD9TTQ3e

Double and triple check that the rad cap is the same bar as yours, mine is 0.9 but the radiator came with a 1.1 haah
