RS Full Float Kit on a Jimny - Which hubs?

Post by stimpy » Wed Sep 19, 2018 11:17 pm

Hey up folks,

I understand that normally one would use SJ 413 or Sammy front wheel hubs on the back but does anyone know if early Jimny ones fit the right pcd too? I think they all fit the same if memory serves correct...

If not I'll have to have a measure up on the weekend...

Thanks..

Jimny is the same PCD as all 4x4 suzuki (Except newer vitaras) Can't answer the rest.

When you say pcd do you mean just the road wheels or the same pcd for bolt fitments on the rear axle versus front wheel hubs?.

Thanks.

Not sure I understand? All 410, 413, Samurai, Vitara (except later ones) and Jimny have the same PCD, so can take the same wheels.

Is a Jimny rear axle the same as a Sammy axle, just built to take coils and and weaker? As in they tend to snap at the welds?

Haha...

I am doing a full float rear axle conversion on a Jimny axle which also allows one to use disc brakes. Ordinarily we have drum brakes and the backing pad retains the bearings and the hub attached to the axle behind the drum holds the wheels. In a full float you cannot use this set up and instead normally use sj front wheel hubs - these attach by 4 bolts to the axle - it is that pcd I am talking about not road wheels.

My question was are early Jimny ones compatible. I have all the bits here to check if I take a few bits apart and was going to do so on the weekend but it pissed down... Was just asking if someone knew that pcd answer...

I'm pretty sure they are all the same and will have a measure when I get a mo.... In the meantime if anyone knows that answer then great :-)

Stimpy I do believe they are the same, just built for different suspensions, but not 100%. Some of the front hubs have one large bearing as opposed to two.

Just to update this and add some info for any future searchers...

1. The shafts are the same length Jimny to Samurai.
2. The adapters are different Jimny to Samurai.
3. Jimny hubs go with the Jimny adapter, Sammy ones go with the Sammy adapter.

I believe the hub types are due to the widths of the vehicles... I will check when I finally get all my bits...

Oh, and it now looks like I may be putting these on a Sammy in the end :-)...

I don't really understand how the shaft lengths are the same on his jimny and samurai kits as Jimnys have wider axles? The semi float aftermarket axles are 27mm wider on the short side and 29mm wider on the long side compared to samurai semi float :hmm:

Also the RS jimmy kit my mate bought didn't have calliper mounts built into the adapters when from what I can work out the need to be to be able to run stock jimmy hubs and discs on the rear :hmm: It's not like the SJ hubs where the calliper mount bolts on separately.
