2005 G Vitara indicators too quiet

Post by maxaret » Sat Jan 25, 2020 8:53 pm

On our 05 GV - when using indicators - we cannot hear any audible warning (clicking),the indicators just flash quietly away to themselves.
So my question is - is there an off the shelf flasher unit to replace the original and which will have a louder audible warning ?? I like to hear an audible warning in case the indicators do not cancel etc.

There is, a friend had one on her Mini ages ago. Maybe try eBay and type in universal turn signal speaker? Or something like that!

Thanks DC - I will look into that.
I was hoping somebody might say - yes use suzuki part number blah blah because it has a louder click and plugs straight into the circuit board.
The other thing I was thinking about last year is assuming it has a towing buzzer (I have never actually used the tow hitch) - then perhaps could fit a link wire or dummy plug to fool the Suzi into thinking it has a light board plugged in LOL.

Does anybody know if the standard original Flasher unit/relay had an inbuilt 'Click' or is it the later type where the 'click' is generated by a dash speaker ?

During a brief dry and sunny spell today - now back to rain already LOL
I plugged in my old trailer board to check if there was an indicator warning buzzer fitted for towing - of course the answer is negative so that idea was a non starter

Used to make these for minis many years ago, all it is 2 diodes and a 12V buzzer and an earth connection. If you know someone who can help with the way diodes are fitted that would help. Connect each one to the wire that goes live on each side, diodes prevent one side switching other on. Hope that helps will be back home in a month and could then post a photo and more info

Hi wbob
Many thanks for reply, once the weather (hopefully) warms up I will remove the trim panel and have a listen to the flasher relay to check if it has a built in 'clicker' or has a remote 'speaker'.If it has a built in clicker I might just try a different make of relay in case it is slightly louder - it does not need to be seriously loud but just audible would be good.
A photo and info would be very useful thanks.
