Your comments noted. Thank you. Will look at HM4x4 site and see what they offer.ScottieJ wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2024 11:55 amSorry seems like I might have misled you on the Jimny G13 bracket. I have previously been told they fit but it looks like they added an extra mounting position on the Jimny G13 block, I always bin the 1.3 for a 1.6 so have never noticed that.
The vitara g16 brackets fit but the clearance to the chassis rail is tight. There are kits available from HM4x4 that come with an aftermarket mount and the crank pulley to match.

Re: 1991 Santana Samurai
Been doing some cleaning up, rustproofing of radiator supports.
Am able to get a clear view of area where power steering would go, whether hydraulic or electric system.
Located a PDF tutorial using a Toyota Yaris electric system to a RHD SJ413. From SJ 4x4 Africa.
Tried to scan a page onto here but was unable to.
Anybody interested in this, message me with an email address and I will send the PDF to you.

View onto steering box area.
Alternator wiring will require modification as have upgraded alternator spec: View onto power steering bracket area.
PO altered wiring to oil pressure switch. Not very happy with it.

Re: 1991 Santana Samurai
My research into power steering led me to look at the "electric hydraulic" system fitted to various models of Volvo.
Video on Youtube of one fitted to a LHD Samurai.
What else does one do when it is pouring with rain!!
Interesting set up that I shall look at further and report back.

Re: 1991 Santana Samurai
My experience of the electric hydraulic pumps when combined with the Jimny steering box is that it’s usually quite rubbish and the steering is still heavy, people used to use the PSA units.
I would just fit a suzuki based, engine driven pump using a kit. It’s a simple and reliable set up that’s proven to work.

Re: 1991 Santana Samurai
My woes regarding finding a fixing bracket for a power steering pump continues!!
Am now thinking of measuring up and having one fabricated.
Fixing arrangement as shown in picture.

Re: 1991 Santana Samurai
Moving on to alternator upgrade I plan.
As expected, distance between fixing lugs on existing bracket will clash with fittings on purchased alternator.
We are investigating solutions. Edit note: Inside dimension between fixing lugs on new alternator is 68mm
Outside dimension on original bracket fixing lugs is 77mm.
