SJ413 VJX Brake Callipers

Post by daviddeaville » Fri Jan 26, 2024 1:48 pm

I have recently purchased a 1987 SJ413 VJX and am in the process of restoring it. I have bought a service kit from Bigredd and put the callipers back together, apart from 2 clips which fit somewhere above the brake pads. Foolishly, I didn't take any photos before stripping them apart! I cannot figure out how to instal these 2 clips, which orientation etc. Can anyone help with photos of a complete calliper assembly, or help me to get these 2 final clips installed? I have attached a few photos to show the clips I mean. The 4 other clips at the sides of the brake pads went together without any issues. Thank you for any advice or photos.

Thank you for your reply Scottie, I can now see the orientation of the clips but still can't see exactly where they locate and clip in tightly etc? Do you have a photo of an assembled calliper please?

Tbh I have a feeling I never run those ones 😅 I will have a look next time I’m up the workshop. I can’t actually remember if I’ve got anything running Aisin calipers at the moment but I could look at my dads Jimny as they use the Aisin callipers.

Hi can any one give me advice where to purchase brake calipers for my sj413 1988, as mine are leaking on one side and mot is due.
Can't seem to find any in stock, have seen some on ebay made in India, not sure if they are any good?
Any help would be great, thanks

You can buy calliper repair kits from biggred.co.uk Prices are good and quality very good. I cleaned up my old calliper bodies, which were very rusty, and installed new seals, pistons etc which I bought from Bigg Red. Try them, I recommend them
