Roof canopy bracket positions?

Post by JollyBodger » Sat Nov 30, 2024 8:19 pm

Hi all, 1st time here! I've refurbished a Samurai for my lad's first car, but I think the hoopy hinges bolt holes are in the wrong position as we're strugglibg with the canopy - the geometry seems wrong. The side rails have been repaired at some point and the cheapy canopy it came with never fitted anyway. I've just bought a new MasterForest canopy and similar issues. Anybody got a measurement of the distance along the side rails for the hinge fittings? Thanks in advance

I can measure for you in the week when I’m at the workshop.

However soft tops are often really hard to fit, especially when it’s cold and even more so when they are brand new. You need to get it as warm as possible the first time you fit it so it can stretch more easily. It will still put up a bit of a fight though and it often seems like it will never pull down the last few inches to reach the poppers 😅

Do you have the tensioner straps that run down from the folding hoop to the body either side of the rear tailgate?
