Fresh lick of paint and cut some rubber mat to suit the floor and made some floor mats too. Try help keep noise down.

I wish! Iv ordered some jimny vvti diffs to see how it fares with abit longer legs now it has more power. See if it gets closer to a luxury motor than an off roader

Every time I think this SJ just can’t get any better you make it even more awesome! Such an epic build.

Your both too kind thank you. She's keeping me busy rankine.
So I tried a rear 4.3 diff with the samurai box just because I could and it's a fair difference in gearing, the engine is much quieter and pulls no problems but it definitely highlights how un aero dynamic an sj is at 70! Wind noise is unreal.
I do have a 410 tbox I can fit and see how that compares, looking at previous recommendations that should be the sweet spot. Change the side gears in front diff and figure out what to do with the front locking wheel nuts (lost the key :argh: ) rears I chopped off and just fit new studs. Suppose I'm going to have to chop the fronts then strip and rebuild the front hubs while I'm in there.
Maybe after that it might just be finished!

Not get them with a old multispline socket and a bug hammer?

That might just work. I don't have any multi spline sockets that big but it's worth seeing if I can get some. Get that front diff sorted and a refresh of front axle and I might get a break.

So gearing wise, the 4.3 rear diff with samurai transfer box, works OK with the 16v but makes you drive faster and highlights a few of the less good points of an sj.

4.3 diff with 410 transfer box, slows your cruising speed down abit (for the better) which makes it a quieter and nicer drive, for an sj anyway. Feels better than 5.12 with 16v.

4.3 with 410tbox vs 5.12 with 413tbox, no clear winner. All depends on what engine you have and if you want less work.

Also, I learnt that there's a difference in power steering mounts and maybe pumps. That's between a vitara 16v and a jimny I think mine is. 10mm diffsrence in the mounting points but bolts up. Caught me out.
