Re: Scottie's Zuke
I've heard the phrase used a few times, but I don't actually know what YJs are, other than some kind of spring set up. Anyone willing to explain?
There's three ways of doing things:
The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

Re: Scottie's Zuke
exactly that, They usually have to have relocation plates (generally bolt on) to move the pivots further forward or back to take the size of the spring. Because they are so much longer it sometimes moves the front axle forward, Also the size gives a better progressive action, more like coils,parrotveasey81 wrote:Edweird wrote:I've heard the phrase used a few times, but I don't actually know what YJs are, other than some kind of spring set up. in this pic some one is fitting them to an SJ
see how it has to have an extra link on the front to accomodate the length?
Re: Scottie's Zuke
Yep! as they ^^^^^ up there said! the pic above is a set up using missing links though. I dont want any 'uncontrolled' droop so I just fabricated the above chassis extensions and will be running the standard YJ shackles that are longer than SJ ones, hence why I raised the shackle mount to try and reduce the loss of approach angle.
Hopefully I will be able to leave the standard mounts on and they wont get in the way (it's going to be close) as I don't want to cut anything off the chassis, just in case it ever has to go back to normal lift springs if I break a YJ and cant find a replacement.

cleaning up the engine, ready for some new paint, gaskets, seals & timing belt.
The SJ in it's current state
modifying the pedal assembly for a vitara brake servo and master cylinder
It will be nice to have servo assisted brakes
