I took my sj down a long river the other day, and have now noticed that both diffs are leaking ( rear worse than front ) from the flange. I inspected it further today and took both flanges off, and loads of water poured out. Its still weeping oil out now that its back together. The rear diff does have alot more play in it than the front, but not too excessive with the flange attached. I am guessing the leak is the seals.
Does anyone know where I can get new seals?
And is it a simple straight out and straight in job?

Re: Both diffs leaking from flange
you will need to set the backlash on the diffs correctly really
dunno how to do this myself, you need a special gauge to measure it I think?
If you have already taken the flanges off and put them back on again?
If you haven't done them up exactly the same amount of turns you may have un-set them

Re: Both diffs leaking from flange
I have some new seals from suzuki now, but my question is what to do now? As I peviously took both flanges off when checking the seals without realising that I had to mark everything. Is there a torque setting somewhere for that nut or do I need to do it by feel?
If so then can anyone describe to me what it should be like?
Thanks.

Hi,
As I said above, you need to set the backlash on the diff... it's like pre-loading it before you do the nut up.
There is a special tool for setting diff backlash.
Have a look below, it's the differential section from the factory service manual.
Should come in handy for you!
(You will probably need a google account to use google docs...)
