LJ80 on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... ink:top:en
bloody hell, wanting £2000 (slightly steep if you ask me) But It certainly looks in good nick, I'd buy it in a heart beat if I had the cash...
also you don't see many lefties it would add to the character for me

For one that tidy, i'd say it's a fair price. at least it will keep people away who would just buy it and thrash it to death offroad
Oh if i had a spare £2000

Sorry to hijack your thread.
LJs have become well sought after on the World-wide classic car scene, especially those in excellent restored (and un-restored) condition. In Germany, these can sell for up to £5k+, so £2k is a bargain if you’re willing to store it for a few years – the problem with LJs is finding the spares when you actually need them.
Just think Series 1 Land Rover (sorry didn’t mean to swear), people used to off-road / trash these in the 70 and 80s because they were cheap; complete wreaks now sale for very silly money.
All in all, if I had a spare £2k, I would snap it up as a future investment.

You haven't hijacked at all
My dad had an lj when I was a little'un. It's my first memories of Suzukis and offroading. I've always promised myself that ill find myself one to restore one day.
Well once the sj is finished.

Re: LJ80 on ebay
My memories of LJs are based on a little brown one I owned 20 years ago. Back then I owned a string of SJs and it was during that time I bought the LJ for fun. I seem to remember that despite the LJ being immaculate and low mileage, it was still a very crude car compared to a SJ - now that's saying something! I suppose in today's terms, think Jimny to SJ??
Nevertheless, I now own a rust free 1978 LJ80 soft top (with canvas doors) with only 12k on the clock from new; it even comes with its original 16" Bridgestone tyres, exhaust and battery. I bought it earlier this year to re-commission, unfortunately it needs new transfer box and gearbox mounts, and exhaust which I can't seem to find new. Oh and the hood needs new windows but no one wants to take on the repair.
I hope to have it on the road for the spring, at which time I will probably have flash backs of how awful, I mean fun, the LJ is to drive.

Re: LJ80 on ebay
Im so jealous, As much as I love my SJ I'd swap it for an LJ tomorrow, Its everything I want in a car, small basic and with bags of character and canvas doors Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeek (sorry for ther girly squeal) I'd like canvas doors just for the novelty..... all though the security is worrying......
Please post pictures for us! and more of a personal request, can i see a photo of the engine? I've never seen an lj engine bay and engine before and i'd love to see how thing progressed.

I just tried to up load some pictures of when I collected it in the summer but the 'computer says' the files are too big. I will take some more and post them later, or start a new thread.
