EXTENDABLE LIFT & FLEX SHACKLES

What are peoples opinions on EXTENDABLE LIFT & FLEX SHACKLES , are they beneficial or do they do more harm than good?

The main benefit of these shackles is that they let your axle drop down a bit further...

You can see it on the picture below, corner of the truck closest to the camera you can see the open shackle

This is my opinion on them

Good points

*More suspension droop = more articulation = more grip but only the weight of the axle and wheel to provide traction.

Bad points

*Uncontrolled suspension droop
*Can damage springs
*Can unload on climbs, decents and sideslopes making vehicle unstable.
*Like lift shackles they reduce your approach angle
*If used when winching you need to be careful as they can open up and destroy your springs.

Missing links with RUF (rear springs up front) is a much better thing to do and will not destroy your springs.

MORE bad points then GOOD i think i will leave them alone

They sound like they might be good for a rock crawler, but not much else.....to me anyway.

Is there any science behind lift shackles wrecking springs? How can they be worse than standard shackles?

They change the angle the springs are at and it makes them go flat prematurely...
