Dont know how much the SWB tub is though, but probably a little bit cheaper as there is less aluminium

There's a pretty major problem with this though, one that would make me prefer a brand new steel version

Corrosion of aluminium into steel, as soon as a steel bolt or component is connected to the ali, it will seize solid!

Plus how do you earth the electrical system to body? It would have to go straight to the chassis.

yep that could be a problem over a long period of time but you could always use some aluminium bolts, it shouldn't really be a problem though, it takes a long time for steel and aluminium to seize together. What are all the bolts in your Engine block and head made out of?

also not a problem aluminium is more electrically conductive than steel, its actually one of the best electrical conductors out of all non precious metals, however if the surface is anodized then the surface will not conduct electricity.

A lot of machinery cables are made out of aluminium now as its cheaper than the old fashioned alternative although they do require a greater CSA (cross sectional area) and they don't bend as easily, also you need different ferrules
