Slide hammer

I'm working on the back brakes and axelshaft/bearings fitting disc brakes to the rear of my anus and as I'm new to SJ's I got myself a Haynes Manual.. In it it says "pull the axel and brake assembly away from the axel housing. If necessary attach a slide hammer to the axel flange to accomplish this"
I don't know if anyone else is short of a slide hammer I am ?
I looked on ebay and they are not cheap, so I made my own..
I used a six inch threaded bar and 3 nuts, bolted it to the hub, put the brake drum on the threaded shaft and put the third nut on.. Pull on the brake drum and the shaft came out.

Looks like it works well, only thing I would be concerned about would be damaging the inner surface of the drum as that needs to sit perfectly flush against the halfshaft flange. Perhaps using something other than the drum would be better to use next time?

I managed to get mine out without a slide hammer...
if you take the brake drum and the wheel off in one go, then take the brake shoes etc off, you can bolt the wheel/drum back on and yank it out...

i have on old rim, with the rear disc setup i have you can put the plate onto the shaft then attach a rim to it, you can then either pull, push, hit or swear at it to pop out
