Always good when you go to order some more paint for your sj and the company you bought it from no longer produces range of paints or that colour
Luckily I've found another company with a good offer on a kit with a similar shade of blue so my chassis and everything will be going the same colour now! Think ill do the cage black though to break it up a bit!
question is where did you guys get your paint, what did it cost and what kind did you get?

yup pronto paints is who i used and they have discontinued the military paints range as they were making no money out of itferris wrote:I used red arrows red polyurethane paint. I got it from pronto paints, but i just checked there website and they dont seem to do it anymore .
found a good deal though in a similar blue, it's £59 for 5l with 5l of etch primer 1l of thinners for the primer and 1l of thinners for the paint and a spraying mask from http://www.jawel.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
might not be the same blue but it'll bloody do and I'll have enough to do the chassis as well.

Re: paint
Nice colour. I'm presuming it's a gloss finish type paint?
I got a can of paint from Humberside paints. He looked up my colour code that I'd gotten off of my VIN plate, found a colour card, held it next to the truck and it was near as can be so I've been using that to patch up the rust and fence damage.

There's three ways of doing things:
The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

Paints ordered
Yeah I think its gonna be gloss this time, will be nice change. But it will show up dents a bit more and I've got a few of them

Re: paint
I've got 10L of transformer paint for mine.
Battleship Grey
Very heavy duty. Heat resistant. Never quite sets so it wont crack or peel.
Very free on a long term borrow from work
was going to ask this anyway so might aswell ask here. what is the best way to prep and layer my paint on my truck, obviously wash off as much mud as possible and run over it with a wire wheel, but there are loads of little bits on the chassis and a few on the body that you just cant get to.
I've got 5L of red oxide primer (also on a long term borrow) so will be using that on the nice shiney bits ive added.

Re: paint
Just clean it as much as you can and make sure the surface is nice and roughed up with some glasspaper etc. I wouldnt worry about all the hard bits to get too, just clean them as much as you can and primer them before painting them. Your not gonna see it once its covered in mud so I wouldn't worry too much
Well unless you want to strip it all down and get it shot blasted
Hopefully my paint will be here tomorrow, so a long weekend of cleaning prepping and painting for me I think.
