My brakes failed a while back, i took off the callipers last week, and havent got to look much at them till today, the pads are wore down to the metal, but I've also noticed the steering balls are leaking:
and does it need new drop links?
is this leak from the oil seal, i see them for £41 a pair but a full axle set of seals and bearings is about £80 would it be better to do that, i hear the oil seal will take a bit of disassembly.

Re: Leaky axle
That leak is caused by the halfshaft oil seal, at the top on the right in the pic, not hard to replace really. You could do it an hour or 2 depending on how good you are with spanners
Re: Leaky axle
ah good stuff, I'm taking the axle out will it be easier to do the seal when its out, or still attached to the anus?

Re: Leaky axle
No point taking the axle off for it really, just jack it up on that side and bung it on an axle stand.
Re: Leaky axle
the only reason i noticed it is that i was taking the axle off to paint it, the steering bolts seem to be all seized, and the drop links look like they would fail the mot.
Where is the best place to get these parts, i seen a seal kit on ebay at £80 but the drop links i could only see one.

Re: Leaky axle
Do you mean the track rod end? Cos you can't order the passenger side one as it's part of the steering bar
(I think)

Re: Leaky axle
There isn't any drop links on mine, just the steering bar. And as above I can only replace the drivers track rod. Stupid design, how are people getting round the passenger side problem?
