off roading

Post by charger » Tue Feb 28, 2012 10:39 am

Ok I have taken my Zuk off roading twice now with just an add a leaf lift & road tyres. The thing is awesome I went up some pretty steep climbs & into some water that was too deep for me really as I have no snorkel but with a bit of shunting backwards & forwards I got out in 1 piece. I can't imagine how good it will be with mud tyres & a snorkel. I really did not think it would be so awesome with a puny 1.3 lump.

Yeah Suzuki SJs are really surprising even when completely standard :D

Mud tyres make such a difference! ... and for the record, they are even better with a 1.6 engine!!! :D

I was out in a 1.3 Samurai at the weekend and it was up there with the best of them in terms of capability.

Did have a set of Grizzly Claws on it and is SPOA but standard apart from that.

Twiss, just had a thought, what clutch do you have in your 1.6?

Do they use the same one as the 1.3 or is it uprated?

I'm using a standard Samurai clutch. The vitara clutch is quite a bit bigger so it doesnt fit in the gearbox bellhousing!

I'm just using a cheapy £60 standard clutch. You can put the paddle type racing clutches in but I find it makes it a pain for driving around town... On or Off with nothing inbetween! lol

If you are putting a 1.6 in you need to put the 1.3 flywheel on the vit engine
