Acceptable run out on wheel rim

Post by Team Pink » Tue May 15, 2012 9:59 pm

I am making up a set of widened rims for the racer, any one got an idea of the acceptable run out on the rim. I plan to tack weld them and then check with a DTI. Instinctively 1mm feels too large but 0.1mm is probably not worth worrying about. My guess is somewhere around 0.2-0.3mm

'Run out' as in out of true? Tbh 1mm prob wouldnt make any difference, I've known some wheels to have quite big dings and buckles that have been hard to notice at speed on cars. The wheels being balanced and the amount of movement in the sidewalls of the tyres will compensate for at least a few mm.
