New glove box door & lock

Post by b6mfd » Tue Jun 19, 2012 8:41 pm

Iv got a new glove box door to replace my scratched one and it came with a new lock and keys. The door fits, but the lock and the bit that holds the lock is different. Does anyone know if I can get a bit for in the glove box so that the lock will work? Otherwise I will have to stick it back on eBay :(

Cant you change the new lock for the original one, or are they different?

No the locks are different, and the bit the lock sits in the glove box door.

My sammy has the lock from the bottom pic glued into the door somehow by the previous owner.

:er: try unscrewing that? it's not original on a 410, I think someone has bodged a different lock into the existing glove box ;)

I wondered if i could replace that bit to make the new one fit, but there seems to be a few bits missing like a black trim that would sit in the circular hole of the glove box / around the lock...and some screws to fit the lock to the door.
I will take that latch bit off and have a gander.....

you don't need to replace it, I'm pretty sure the standard catch just uses the hole behind it.
