Yeah the terminology used between the US and UK can differ quite a lot when it comes to vehicles.

I tend to try and post using the US terms when I'm on US forums.

I think the best thing to do would be to call Rob on +447815 182 857 it might take a few attempts until he answers though!
I know it will be expensive to call him from the US but he should be able to advise you about the gears and if any mods need to be done to the case.

I also just noticed his 6:1 gear sets seem to have the same 24% reduction in high as the 8:1 and are £100 cheaper

Reduction Ratio % Reduction Price

4:1 Works great with tyres up to 30” 12% High - 83% Low £375.00

5:1 Well suited for 31” & 32” 21% High - 128% Low £475.00

6:1 The only great gear set designed for 33” 24% High - 170% Low £525.00

8:1 King of the rocks, makes you lower than a
Snakes belly 24% High - 260% Low £625.00

Thanks Scott for the info.

I did notice that also about the 6.1 set. I think that I will still go with the 8.1 just incase some one is being an XXX hole about my show truck. That way I can make them eat their words.

I was going to call but decided to send an email 1st to see if they answer. Being that I'm so far away and there happens to be an issue. I would like to see them respond to an email for the money that needs to be spent. If I don't hear from them I will place a call.

I actually got a resonce from itsmejoe on the ZK and he knew of someone that had one. Said it worked great with a Zuk on 39.5 tires and a 1.6 16 valve motor and beat the crap out of it with no problems. Joe also mentioned how and where to clearence the case.

Guess that I will just stay on my build thread it seems they are use to my bad comunication skills they seem to just like the pics anyway. That way I don't have to learn a new bunch of terms to try and comunicate properly when posting a question.

I've been searching around for any information as re-guarding the 8 to 1 gearset and they all lead back to Rob Storr. He is well known for being really difficult to get in contact with, I guess he has lots of work on. Glad you found some info on the case mod needed to take these gears (found that earlier, when "googling" ). Keep trying, sooner or later your get him :D .

Just had a look on the FedEx website and for a box to the USA 10kg is £65, just to give you an idea of what to expect.

Thanks Darrell for trying to get me some more info.

It is very hard to find anything out about these gears. I started looking last year when they were no longer being sold in the US. Spent a bunch of time and finally found out someone thought they were manufactured in the UK.

I thought if any one would know if they were over here it would be Scott. As you can see he came through with the place.

It is a shame that he is so hard to get a hold of. If he does his own work I can understand not wanting to waste too much time answering emails and phone calls. I chase people out of my shop all the time so I can get things done.

I think Robs suzuki products are a more of an on the side thing. From what I've heard he does a lot of work for high spec motorsport companies for their race cars etc. Probably why he can be hard to get hold of sometimes, guess he's a pretty busy man.

Hi Scott, Thought that I would give you an update.

Got a hold of Rob the 1st try. He has no more 8.1's available for atleast 2 years. Thinking about the 6.1 then.

He needs to get back to me with a shipping quote the problem is his computer has problems and he is not able to phone me back either.

He did say that he was going to email me back with a quote in 1 hour so I will see how it goes. If things go well he said that I should have it by weeks end. I know you mentioned about him being slow at shipping as well. I have ordered parts in the past and merchants tell me the same thing and I end up waitng much longer.

Thanks for the help

If you have anything you would like to comment on please feel free.

Thanks Terry

I also sent you a PM same thing which ever way you feel like answering is fine with me.

Awesome, glad you got hold of him pretty quickly. Maybe he's trying to get a quicker turnaround on his shipments nowadays. He actually got rid of his website for a while and there were rumours that he'd stopped trading, then out of nowhere he had a new website up.

Hope you get your gears sorted asap.

Rockwatt does not do custom gearsets, he only does the 4.16:1 rocklobsters and dual cases so cannot offer what Tanzuk needs Chris. Rob storr is the only one in the UK that sells 6:1 gears and the only person to offer 8:1 gears worldwide it seems.
