Bump the zook! Internal detox! More pics added :)

Hi all, iv posted some pics in the new members section, but thought id stick some in here of the progress.

I picked her up a couple of weeks ago and love it!

Pic when i got her.




Replaced the clutch release arm.



New shoes.




The rad was goosed! when i touched it it crumbled!



New one fitted yesterday.



a quick interior pic, need to give it a good clean really, but pretty tidy for 25 years old.



Then i went looking for some lanes yesterday, nothing to hard, just some gentle tracks. Enjoy!

So i was a little bored on Saturday and thought id give the Zook a bit of a clean out inside.....

I got a little bit carried away....









It gave me a chance to review the rust.....here is what i found







Not sure what to do with the rust really so any pointers would be good i have no grinder, and cant weld! lol

I can however clean! I decided to put the carpets in the washing machine because they come out in separate bits so fitted in....Came out great, still a few bits that could be better, but from what they were im really happy!









Then i took to cleaning the seats! here is a pic of the drivers seat before cleaning and the passenger seat after cleaning.....



I still have the drivers seat to clean but my skin was starting to wear thin after doing the other three!

Any ideas how tho get that nasty brown / orange glue off? i was thinking i would re-stick the rear arch carpets with double sided velcro so i could easily remove them next time i want to clean them....

looking good just a bit of welding where did you get the radiator from as i need a new one chears

Lovely 410 mate and incredible interior, first thing I'd do about the rust is rub it back with a wire brush an krust it to stop it spreading

As Chris said get some rust treatment on there, also I'd suggest a wire brush attachment for an electric drill if you have one. Also you'd be suprised how long one of the cheap angle grinders from maplin etc will last so might be worth investing in one and some flap discs and a few sanding discs, will clean the rust off much quicker. While the read carpets are out take the cover off from the fuel filler (behind driver side rear arch) and clean it up under there as I can guarantee there'll be rusty under there. As long as its not rusted all the way through, is just get it back to clean metal, primer it, filler it and paint it. Only if it's a physical hole does it need to be welded really, then again it wouldn't cost too much to get holes that size repaired, if you were close to me is be more than happy to do it for you.

I tell you what though the SJ looks in real good condition if that's the only rust on the inside

Thanks guys I got the rad at a local motor store, not cheap tho, think it was about 90 quid.....
Iv got a little multi tool (dremel type), so il get some wire brush attachments and get rid of the rust
I took the cover off the fuel filler and yes it was full or dry dirt! Got it all cleared out and no rust in there just the bottom of the cover for some reason, so need a new section welding on the bottom to get the fixing in.
Yeh internally the only rust is at the rear as shown and one of the drain holes in the drivers footwell as shown in pic above
Are the rust removal gels any good for surface rust?
I'm tempted to take the arch trims off to see how bad they are, but I'm worried they might not go back on :-s
The underside is really clean and tidy
Unfortunately for the zook a house purchase and renovation is going to be taking all my money so she will be going into storage for a while.....poor things spent most it's life tucked away....lol

Nice little anus, exactly like my first 410, and the same rust problems

I bought an adaptor for my drill and ground the rust out, used some Krust and then put fibre glass over the larger holes, filled it, sanded it and a quick spray it looked like new. Passed many many MOT's like that!

Pity she's going into storage...fix the rust first or it'll bite you later!
