413 alternator only putting 11.5 volts out

Post by jibb » Mon Jul 16, 2012 7:45 am

Hi there. My alternator is knackered! The anus won't stay running when the headlights are in use after about 2 minutes of turning the head lights on the fuel gauge will slowly start to drop to empty then the engine just loses spark and dies.

The battery is probably knackered to

Just wanted to confirm my suspicions about the alternator really.
Anyone else had a similar problem?

Thank you

sounds like it's the alternator, I'd get a new one on there. Then hope the battery is ok ;)

I wouldn't worry about the plug fitment too much. If you have a square black alternator plug and the alternator is a round green plug, its just a case of cutting the plug off and crimping on a couple of ring connectors and a spade connector.

Dead easy :)

Thanks for the replies the monkey who owned it before has used electrical tape to join All the wires together do I have now replaced all of then and it's putting out 13.9 at the battery so think its good enough and has stopped and started with the fan and headlights on! Problem solved so thanks guys
