back door metal cover.. dimensions.. help please..
right my car is on my nans drive and i am going to put a hardboard panel in place of the metal one in the rear door so i can put 2 6x9's in it so i need to know the size of the panel so i can just cut it out and take it over there, so if anyone could measure their panel i would appreciate it and it would help me as i wont have to make an extra trip over there just to measure lol...

Re: back door metal cover..
I'm doing something similar with the rear panel trims at the minute. I'm in two minds about fitting speakers however. I would want them covered up so less chance of having it broken in to
Can I just ask how your planning on running the wires down to the head unit?

Re: back door metal cover.. dimensions.. help please..
I have a piece of garden hose going to the back door with my number plate light and fog light wires going to the door so i can run my speaker wires and central locking wire into the door aswel when i get the kit...

Re: back door metal cover.. dimensions.. help please..
I dont know about the hard top but I can explain the soft top fitting, this is my set up
It is an akward shape as the top left of the panel curves in where it meets the body
Also on the soft top the door latch is raised so you have to make space for it on your mounting board
On mine I (the person before me) made the mounting plate out of x2 sheets of MDF I covered it (even though its tatty now) & fitted the sub in a homemade box made to fit the wheel arch.
Here are the mounting board 'squared' dimensions (without the top left corner notch
106cm long
32.5cm high
The cables are just ran under the carpet, the backing sheet of mdf has a cut out section for the cables to run behind the plate, although the cable connection to the rear door looks a mess its only temporary, it used to be wrapped in black self amalgamating tape but it perished, I intend to spiral wrap it and re-attach the spring.

Re: back door metal cover.. dimensions.. help please..
Been and got them, now for a top quality diagram .
Not sure how thick a board you would need. I sealed my panel up with silicone to stop it rattling years ago so didn't remove it to measure the depth. Depends on the magnet size on the speakers I guess. you could make some spacer pieces rather than a thick board though. The corners are rounded as the diagram, or the corners are the same radius as a can of coke or a packet of chocolate digestives
