Or you could have a bit of fun and a challenge fitting an M Series!!

No worriesJay18 wrote:thanks scottie! been trying to find out extactly what i need to do the conversion lol....
I found a pic for you, this is how I did my drivers side mount, just used some angle to extend the existing mount and then plated the end in.
oh and you'll need some 1300 engine mounts

as for engine to gearbox fitting have a look at dan_2k's build thread... we've done 3 sammy 1300 gearboxes mated to 1600 vit engines now without using adapter plates.. all you need is some studding and a welder.

if in doubt, FLAT OUT!

oh and a 1300 head will fit on a 1600 block it just makes it a interference engine rather than non-interference

If they are both 8V then it won't be.trotter wrote:oh and a 1300 head will fit on a 1600 block it just makes it a interference engine rather than non-interference
I'm a bit confused that you found this, Shuduck on pirate4x4 used to run a 1.3 8v head on a 1.6 16V block and his didn't end up an interference engine even with a shaved head? but I'm not sure if he swapped the pistons or not, he didn't mention that he had?

Just a quick point... the fact that the 16v engine is an interference engine is sort of a misleading one.
The 16v engine based on a G16A engine like mine is a non-interference design, whereas the 16v engine based on the G16B engine IS an interference engine
The difference is that the G16A 16v is a Single Point Injection engine, whereas the G16B 16v is multipoint injection I believe
The G16A 16v seems to be less common, which I think is why people think all the 16v engines are interference

Twiss none of the G series 1.6 16vs are interference
we're talkin about 16v heads on 8v blocks and vice versa

Yeah after our little discussion we've come to that conclusion, although it would be nice to test it if someone has a G16B engine lying around!
My engine is a 16v head on top of an 8v block
(16v G16a engine has same block as 8v G16a engine)

Re: does a 413 head fit a 410 block? + 1.6 8v fitting into 4
But being a stock 16v engine it will have the pistons for a 16v fitted, they have 4 recesses for the valves instead of two, anyway all G16 blocks are the same, the internals can vary but the casting is the same.
What trotter and I are on about is running a 8 v head on a 16v bottom end without swapping the pistons
