Re: MPG?
I wonder if your timing is out or something. I don't know what that'd do to fuel consumption but bad timing will make an engine run like a turd.
To me, it just sounds like your engine needs a tune up. Y'know, clean or replace your plugs, rebuild the carb, adjust the timing, adjust the mixture.
If you had it bits it'd only be a couple of hours work with a zook. Heck, if you lived near me I'd come round and do it for you.

The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

Re: MPG?
thanks edweird. prehaps i should sell some bits and take it to a garage. its got new plugs and air filter, il take the carb off and give it a clean and if that doesnt work il see if a garage can do anything. would the diffs be slowing it down?

Re: MPG?
Only if they are broke. generally speaking, diffs work or they go bang with very little in between. Setting the timing would be a good start, then I would change the filters (dont forget the fuel filter on the drivers side chassis leg) I would then change the sparkplugs, the leads & the rotor ARM & cap

Re: MPG?
i found a breather that should have been blocked off, so done that and now its running better/smoother. also filled he tank full and found a leak by the fuel filter..... lines look corroded so il change them today. ............ one last question, would a gearbox on its way out cause poor fuel consumption?

Re: MPG?
Anything that adds resistance to the engine will increase fuel consumption.
Generally if something isnt functioning as its should do it will. Its like you are driving up hill all the time.
What kind of tyres do you have and what kind of pressure are you running?
Sounds like you might have found it tho.

Off the top of my head...I think I used 12mm for the fuel hose.james thomas wrote:its got 15inch rims with macho tyres, not too sure what exact, but theyr knobly ones for offroad. i put in 30 psi yesterday, but was told to run about 20psi. would you know what diamiter the fuel hose is?
