Slipping clutch
Not totally SJ related but here goes. A friends clutch keep slipping on his fiat, it has been changed twice, not by me, but keeps doing it Can the flywheel maybe cause the problem?

Re: Slipping clutch
Is it correctly adjusted? did it have a new release bearing fitted?

Re: Slipping clutch
It could be the flywheel if worn, or it's been skimmed up.
Some years ago I had one machined up at work on the face that contacts the friction plate. Quite soon it started slipping again. I then realised the face the cover plate bolts to needed to be set back about 1mm and giving a step to the friction plate surface.
Effectively due to machining the flywheel up I had removed some of the clamping force from the cover plate, if you understand what I'm trying to say!!

Re: Slipping clutch
Right got round to starting this today. First of have been told clutch had only been refurbished so I got a compleat kit for it, also when all the problems started I did ask about oil or grease getting in and was told by the original person that fitted it that it was not a problem.
So to start it was a typical pain in the butt to do, but 3 hours it was all out, and every thing is covered in oil and i cant see how its getting in. So tomorrow is going to be spent hunting and hopefully getting it back together.

Oil in the bell housing is usually a crank seal.
There's three ways of doing things:
The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.
