SPI 1600 conversion HELP ??

Post by dunnin21 » Sun Nov 25, 2012 8:50 pm

Right i finaly have the vitara engine in the SJ on the mount, but i have come across a few problems. The firs is the pipe in the pics its up hard against the brake fluild res, What did people who have done this conversion do to get around this problem. I bthink the pipe is a fuel pipe not sure of its job. Could i block off, or reroute ???

The second is that the vitara clutch cable mount seams to be in the wrong place, there is too much slack on the cable, Thanks for all input guys

Could you not carefully bend it a bit more so that it clears the master cylinder?

I'm pretty sure most people dont have any issues with the clutch cable mount? I run the vitara gearbox as well in mine though so wouldn't know? ive just never heard about anyone needing to modify it when doing a 1600 conversion? does the 1300 clutch cable mount fit?

Have you ran out of adjustment on the cable then? if so you could always take the clutch release arm off the gearbox and put it back on a few teeth further back (clockwise)

I used the 1.3 clutch cable bracket.

I looked at it and it just didn't look right. I thort the 1.3 braket would fit better just waiting for weather to change so I can give it ago.
