Re: no key
i put some petrol in the tank, it was completely empty, charged the battery, then i poured petrol down the tank to efi pipe, it fired and then died, so we had spark and the key fob did still have an active chip, so then poured some petrol down into the efi unit and realising that i needed to do exactly like you would if you had a real key, put the plastic key fob onto the ign barrel and cranked it over, with a screwdriver in the removed end of the ign barrel and it fired up.vitara_mad wrote:what did you do to get it running ???
you do have to follow the same procedure each time. i have started it 4 times so far, just 1 hour ago was the last time after leaving it overnight and all seemed ok.
i was amazed to be honest, i have ordered another ecu, imo box, key and ign lock (all from the same age car) from an ebay breaker as this was cheaper than getting a new key cut.
i am going to get some new keys and locks for the doors as well, hopefully one will fit the tailgate.
i have found only 2 things wrong the windows and the horn do not work!
amazing really.
now i know it works i can now look at what i can do with it.

Re: no key
quick wip report
got an ecu, ign barrel, key and imobiliser from a breaker £60 inc p+p and after 1/2 hour fitting it now runs and starts on the key fine.
a lot less than the £160 quoted from a key/lock specialist.
also got the window mechanisms from same breaker £30 inc p+p so i can now make the windows go up and down as well.
so all that is left is suspension lift, bigger wheels and tyres, diff/sump guards, pick up rear body,
spot lights, snorkle, new paint job, ect, ect!
will post pics as and when.

Re: no key
since dinner time i have also fitted the new window mechanisms and cleaned out and freed up the free wheel hubs as well, quite a productive day so far.
even got the radio to work!
so dash is now back in and it looks quite good.
hand brake is rubbish though so new brakes are in order as well.
thanks

Re: no key
yes a very productive day indeed, quite pleased with with what i got done, no serious hold up's.
went to a terrataging event today (sun) to watch my sons mate in his jimny.
saw a few vitara's one was quite good, had 3in body and sus lift, but the rear end on a body lifted vitara does not look right without a decent bumper, any idead as to who does one?
i may well end up mot' ing it soon.
got a really good quote from A flux, so i may put it on the road as well.
