Pissing oil out big time after new rocker seal
Pissing oil out big time after new rocker seal
Why is this happening ?
Can you see how it's just streaming out of the corner of the cover?

It doesn't leak when running except if I remove the top breather pipe and block it with my finger, then it pisses out big time. Am I looking at a breather problem?
Re: Pissing oil out big time after new rocker seal
The breather pipes are clear from rocker cover to air box and down to the valve that screws into the inlet manifold. It has a little diaphragm in it which I can depress with a small screwdriver.
I'm guessing that when its running the engine vacuum opens this valve and allows the oil in the rocker cover to breathe. When it's turned off its closing it and then pushing the oil out.
Is it possible that there's still a blockage in the top of the rocker cavity somewhere?

Also under full throttle where there is no engine vacuum. It leaks. So only doesn't leak at idle or when there is vacuum in the inlet. I.e part or no throttle.
So when it's running the vacuum in the breather effectively sucks the pressure from the rocker cover. And then it doesn't leak.
After turning the car round so it's facing downhill instead of uphill, the area where the oil leaks out moves. So this cancels out any damage to the gasket or head

Re: Pissing oil out big time after new rocker seal
have you pulled the PCV valve off and made sure it's clean and still rattles? That's a bad leak! I have found that the steel rocker covers do have a bit of flex to them, might be worth trying a rubber rocker seal instead of a cork one?

If covering the breather causes it to leak I'd say your oil pressure is getting too high. I'd do like Scottie says and make sure that valve works properly.
There's three ways of doing things:
The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

Which valve is this? There's a small screw in valve in the top of the inlet manifold with a diaphragm that moves. Is it this?

The valve on the manifold. Take the pipe off take the valve out and give it a shake, should rattle if it dont then you need to clean it

If you mean the one there in the pic. Well that's the only one I can find anyway. Then it won't unscrew. Seized in. I will try again when I don't need the car as much cos if it snaps then I'm stuck at the minute.
