I know a few of you have replaced these with larger wire and fuse holder/fuse.
I've seen 30 or 40 amp used.
Feel free to add any info on what you have done :thumbup: .

According to the tinternet the green is 0.5mm and rated at 13amp continuous and 40 amp blow.
Seems low to me if you had the heater fan - lights - wipers etc on must be near the limit ?
I would think a fuselink is much slower blowing than a standard blade fuse so could take a little overloading for some time before it melted. However a dead short would melt it in seconds :thumbup:

I dunno :er:

I had a 35A blade fuse in mine and blew it a few times. 40A seems to be the magic value.

I've got a 30 Amp blade fuse in mine and I ran it for about 5 minutes the first time I put it in with the engine, wipers, all lights, internal fan, fag lighter etc. and it didn't blow. I've driven home at night in the rain a few times now with music and the heater on and it's still fine. It's been in for at least 2 or 3 months.
There's three ways of doing things:

The right way,

And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

Thanks for the input guys. I see most standard blade fuses only go to 30amp but a few people sell 35 and 40 amp ones. I also see most blade fuse holders are only rated at 30 amps but again if you shop around you can find 40amp ones. Alternatively a "Maxi " blade fuse and holder could be used.

Doh, the link on mine was all joined with blocks so ive soldered a nice new wire in not realising what it was actulay for. oops. shall get a 40 amp fuse to go in line lol.

40amp fuse with 50amp rated holder(a few quid of amazon ) on mine have a/c and power strering kept bolwing 35s
