Re: Jordi's 1988 Samurai Build
All torqued up. Just gotta sort those rear shocks. Not sure what im doing with them yet.
I've had a trial seat fit. Tight fit is the way to describe it. I forgot how narrow the little zuk is inside. After much messing about i've got the drivers seat in. I've raised it up by putting some 50mm box section in but because the steering wheel isn't adjustable its awfully close to my legs now. I like the higher seat but i think its going to be trial and error.
Photos to follow. And still working up to the power steering fit. Lol.

Seats properly fitted now. Thet are too wide. Had to shoe horn 'em in. Passenger seat may want sliding in a bit but doors shut fine.
Found it impossible to get a good photo angle mind. Got some temporary seat covers on till i can get some better ones.
Had it out for a drive and it goes fine still. The new springs don't seem too harsh or bouncy.

Re: Jordi's 1988 Samurai Build
I've just been trawling though the forum and i'm fairly sure i've found the right astra shocks i need. Hoping to get those from Andrew Page tomorrow.
Having a slight issue getting it to flex right up. Could really do with a high lift jack. Going to put opposite corners on my ramps then with railway sleeper blocks and jacks, jack the corners up till they lift off floor. Sounds so easy.
I've got my bump stop extentions cut to size. Using 2" box with a 4mm wall. I was going to weld these in place but have decided against that. 13mm bolts are the restraint of choice.
I've had a trial fit of the mitsubishi alternator. Looks ok. Fits on the existing bracket with a slight adjustment. I just need to figure out the wiring for it.

Re: Jordi's 1988 Samurai Build
Coming on nicely! Hi-lift jacks are pretty useless for flexing up to be honest, best thing is an engine hoist attached to a wheel or to make a ramp to drive one wheel up on to, measure all 4 shock mount distances then repeat on each wheel to make sure you get accurate measurements.

Bit more expensive but should do the trick nicely. KYB 343292 gas shocks. From a Mitsubishi L200.
15" closed 25" extended. Eyes on both ends.

Re: Jordi's 1988 Samurai Build
I wonder how firm they are though, an L200 is a lot heavier than an SJ so I would imagine that they would be very stiff when fitted to such a light vehicle.

Re: Jordi's 1988 Samurai Build
Jobs a good 'un. The shocks seem ok. Overall the ride is harder than it was on the old springs but on the tarmac it seems fine. Hit a bump and it bounces a bit, nothing too extreme.
I've flexed it up as much as i can on ramps and with jacks and none of the shocks bottom out.
If you throw it around it doesnt roll too much. Had it up to 50 and it handles as good as it used to.
I'm happy with it.
